Receiving life from, but destroying Mother Earth.
What validity is left in fair-play?!?
Does equality survive the rigors of the day?!?

Ingrained with the mentality of
"What's mine is mine & what's yours is mine"...
Lulled to sleep at night with the lie that everything is fine.
What type of expectations does that foster for tomorrow...
Selfishness - self-pity and sorrow?!?

We have mastered the telling of these comforting lies so well...
No longer can our own eyes decipher heaven-sent from the fires of Hell.

Humanity is fated to fail thanks to our abuse of power and that great American
attitude of "If anyone can kill it... we can"...
Winter begets Spring...
Spring gives birth to Summer...
Summer precedes the Fall of man...

I really like this a lot. It's fatalistic..but it's true..

Nice. So true but sad isn't it? I wrote a poem opposite of this but I also wrote one along these lines and I wrote a short story that poses this view as well. Straightforward and thought provoking. I like it.

I'm somewhat speechless ! I expected this to be longer...but what needed to be said was said in such a wonderful way. This poem is the brutal truth of our American Society. BRAVO!
