On the 4th of july
Didn't see the colors bleed
Hear the blast come from the sky
Alone i sat once again
With a pencil in my hand
Trying to find some words to write
Words you'de understand

Good night mary jane
Sure was nice to know ya
Better days were yet to come
You wouldn't let me show ya
I always knew deep inside
Knew you wouldn't stay
On and off you made yourself
The girl from another day

Never felt as lonely
As i did living with you
So many nights you you came home late
To remind me i wouldn't do
Now it's someone new again
He's your 33rd mr. right
I'm off this rollar coaster ride
Lovin' you ain't worth the fight

Good night mary jane
Sure was nice to know ya
Better days were yet to come
You wouldn't let me show ya
I always knew deep inside
Knew you wouldn't stay
On and off you made yourself
The girl from another day

If only you were taught to feel
Learned how to love
Maybe i wouldn't have prayed so much
To the power from above
You kept searching while you had me
Not knowing what love is
Lesson it's warmth from your heart
Not an answer to an endless quiz

Good night mary jane
Sure was nice to know ya
Better days were yet to come
You wouldn't let me show ya
I always knew deep inside
Knew you wouldn't stay
More off than on
You made yourself
The girl from another day
