you can be taken off the hook
there's no reason to disagree
I should be held responsible
you can place the blame on me
you can't help but be yourself
or do the things you do
but I really should have seen it
and realized you weren't being true
there were warning signs all around
and yet, I chose to be blind
deluding myself into thinking
they were made-up in my mind
I should have paid attention
in the end, my instincts were right
and now I am full of regrets
and trapped in this awful plight
it would have spared me agony
to see what you were really about
you would have stopped pretending
and not have had the lies drawn out
you can be taken off the hook
there's no reason to disagree
I should be held responsible
you can place the blame on me

| I just loved the message contained within this beautiful poem of reality for so many hurting hearts in our society today. I blame the media and the free thinking projection they display on the thing we call the tube. Thank You for sharing yourself and your awesome poetry with all of us.
