All alone in this room full of family,
All alone with a forgotten cake on my lap.
When I get home, I'll just have a kitten on my arm
Digging little claws in to my skin.

Who am I?
Trapped in a body I don't want.
Loving myself but hating who I am.
I have a glass of half drunk water
And I miss soda even if I didn't like the taste.

Who am I?
A girl that wishes for more but wants less.
A rainbow of color that needs help to see the light.
A pineapple reading weird stories on the computer.
A Gerry lost in the dessert.

Who Am I?
Brightness to cover up the dark.
A flashing Christmas tree to and joy to your holiday.
Sensational words spoken softly.
Cold ice cubs falling down the back of your shirt.

Is that me?
Am I all those things wrapped up to form
A ball of 14 year old girl?
Will I always be those things?
Or will I lose it one day,
Lose myself like everyone else.

I don't want to lose myself.
I want to stay the rainbow pineapple forever.

You are what you want to be...as long as you always believe and have faith in your choices..then you know happiness within yourself. Awesome poem really enjoyed reading it, cheers for sharing.

Poet at Industrial Colosseums Unbound
Says:

Wonderfully imaginative title!

"Who am I to need you when I'm down?
Where are you when I need you around?
Your life is not your own

And all I ask you
Is for another chance
Another way around you
To live by circumstance, once again

Who am I to need you now?
To ask you why, to tell you no
To deserve your love and sympathy
You were never meant to belong to me

And you may go, but I know you won't leave
Too many years built into memories"
-Smashing Pumpkins "Crestfallen"

Good imagery,
Well written free verse,
And good word usage "pineapple.

Well done!

Great poem. There is a part of us that changes and a part that stays the same no matter what we do. I hope for happiness in your future no matter what changes.
