long ago i reached for you and you were there
alas, life has taken us in different directions,
at times remembering our laughter on the square
we close our eyes once more in quiet reflections,

destined to dream; we are just two lonely writers
hopelessly devoted to the stars, truth and romance,
all i know for sure is you make my heart feel lighter
dare we take another try, or is it all just futile chance?

yet knowing you are there is like reaching for a rope
any amount of time may go by then passion flares again,
together we were happy, so herein again lives that hope
true when we walked together 'twas a love filled lane,

so, what shall we do with this deeply emotional affinity?
believing nothing could stop us for together we are strong,
when before in each others arms and lives we found serenity
destiny and karma play important roles in where one belongs,

oh, do we stay apart ever wishing to be whole?
or dive in again loving? heart, mind and soul?

there was a time when i'd have followed you to the ends of earth
i've gone to the ends of the earth for love; been left shattered,
your travels as well, left you high and dry at all the worlds beaches
with someone who also decided you no longer mattered,

why did we part ways only to come around full circle?
shall we begin again? come away with me and be my love...
we cannot live lives ordinary, together we were extraordinary,
what are we to do with these feelings we are symptomatic of?

oh, will we ever make it home to arms that we call home,
or be forever spent; all our lives looking through the windows of
other homes with fires burning, ever filled with voidful yearning?
always searching for that brighter star,

when in reality, once again,
here we are......

long ago i reached for you and you were there

This left me breathless and in tears..I wipe them now and am left saying.."Oh if only it were he...I'd walk away with nothing...you read my heart..but it's on my sleeve for everyone to read..I wish you hadn't written this...God I wish you hadn't...It's sooo true...my fantasy that can never come true...sob sob sob...get the tissues...a 5 box tissue write!!!! darn you!!!!

Nessa reading your imaginative write, I was spellbound, and left my heart feeling tight! I wouldn't want to be in your shoes and have to decide!!?? I guess I would get cold feet.....
wonder what would happen if you two chose to meet..........and become one instead of two? Can you resurrect a relationship of long ago? Can you pick up where you left off? All the many questions you have to ask, and yet,
even if they come off as negative......if you are truly in love.........nothing, no, not one thing will keep you apart from one another.

I feel like Alice, yet instead of falling into a rabbit hole, I have fallen deep into this poem. This poem really touched me and expressed my own thoughts so well. Love this.
