With liberty and justice for both you and me
I wonder out loud though if we are true to our word
I mean just look to Iraq and ask any Kurd

Our records now available to government eyes
Express an opinion and you could be labeled a spy
It’s treason to say this war is not just
Who needs to find weapons it’s Baghdad or bust

Our leaders are crooks or whores at best
In bed with corporations and at their behest
They promise the stars and shoot us a moon
Delivering nothing but it’s coming soon

Now Bush and Kerry are fighting for power
While Americans are killed in each waking hour
Who needs to see the coffins of our dead
We just do as we're told…so easily led

Rule is maintained through the peddling of fear
Yet our children are dying and Bush sheds no tears
It’s not his son who's dead…most certainly not
For the elite in this country aren’t of our lot

These kids didn’t sign up to line the pockets of the rich
They joined to defend our country not be it’s *****
But off you go to the oil fields of Iraq
Kill a few terrorists and we’ll give you a plaque

Your families will be fine of this your assured
We’ll take care of them all while you’re on your tour
Believe this one and I’ll tell you another
And don’t look for opinions from that grieving mother

Flag draped coffins tell the story for me
We should be ashamed if we would let ourselves see
But the government knows better and protects us they say
From the costs of this war that are growing each day

It’s a poor magic act done with slight of hand
An illusion of sorts spread across our land
So I pledge allegiance to this flag
But I hope you’ll excuse me if I don’t brag

But my gas guzzler is full so what do I care
I mean who ever said that war was fair
Saddam is gone and that’s all that counts
So fill it with premium as the casualties mount
