To her kids pain she did inflict,
She was hooked on all sorts of drugs,
At offers of help she just shrugged.

When she was pregnant with me,
She drank & popped pills so free,
She didn’t stop to even think,
Her baby would ingest drugs & drink.

The pills soon turned to heroin,
Her ending was soon to begin,
The drugs made her into a shadowy ghost,
At twenty-seven she took her fatal overdose.

She left behind three young kids,
Not even a word of sorry to bid,
I was nine when I was told,
But it didn’t make my blood run cold.

As to me my mother was a stranger,
Who put all her children in danger,
Now she is dead I can’t ask,
What pain she hid under her drug mask.

I can’t ask how, where, what or why?
She played Russian roulette & then died,
As soon as she stuck the needle in,
She took her life & threw it in the bin.

I am left with no memories of her,
Just anger & pain everything’s a blur,
All I know are from social workers notes,
In the world of unknowing I float.

well. considering you have such a brilliant mind and are so creative and talenetd, it is difficult to believe you went through these experiences so young, not meaning i dont believe you, not at all that, but your self preservation is so strong, i hope that makes sense, ...even though your biological mum did these things you are so beautiful a person and i am more amazed by you each poem i read:) big hugs n' love nessa

This is a powerful poem indeed, I liked it, I really liked it, I felt it's words as if she's my own mother and that means you are a very good poet, but that's not new, I said that before, so I really couldn't know if it was a true story or not as your talent left me confused, so if you can, please end my confusion and tell me, if you want of course.

Pixie, my love and respect grows for you more everday. Even with all the turmoil you have gone through in your life you are fighting hard to beat it, and my sweet child, you will. There is a determination in you not to let life beat you down. That is the first step to success in any venture. You do absolutely amaze me.

Much love to you,
Rita

how difficult that must have been to wrire and how horrible for you to have gone through it.
live your life and always remember the pain you went through and never let that happen to you or your future children. may God be with you forever.

awww pixie... I totally understand everything you are saying here... my dad is a drug addict and left me and my mom to fend for ourselves when I was very young... I am so sorry it had to be this way... I can really understand the pain and hatered that you might have for your mother... because I have the same for my father. This was really an excellent write here and I'm glad you were able to get this out... I really feel for you babe... you ever need me, you know where I am.
take care,
Deanna
