Safe and unaware
That this tender new life will
Soon be eliminated.
Screaming, writhing, helpless, defenseless,
The child dies in pain.
The one who was supposed to safeguard her child
Instead hold her child's execution decree in her hand.
We as a people
Degenerate life as a choice
And one do not protect the ones
That cannot protect themselves.
This child is a life
Not a tissue mass
It grows and has a heartbeat
Such as you and I.
We will fight for our rights to the death
But it's right to live is taken.
We see abortion as utility
The end justifies the means.
But nothing is justified
By the shedding of innocent blood.
When will our eyes open
And end the bloodbath
Of robbing the unborn
Of their right to life?
When will our voices raise
To speak for those without a voice
To end the silent screams
To end the reign of terror
When will we stand to fight
The American tragedy....
Of abortion?
When will we see
That we are not in control of life
That the Author is a power above all
That He decrees each life
As precious, sanctified
And His creation...
Not ours to
Pitch in a dumpster
Because bearing this life
Was inconvenient for his mother. [comments] => 8 [counter] => 328 [topic] => 8 [informant] => faith_my_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => AmericanTragedy )

It's a nearly forgotten issue. Every day it goes on. Every day precious lives are wasted by us and clutched to the bosom of God. Bravo for taking a stand. I, for one, will stand beside you.

This was a harsh tearing read, disturbingly well written in rage. I've written a few of these myself but I dont post them because I know the hurt that comes with abortions is hard enough for everyone to bare without my adding to it.

Well I hope your never raped by someone and end up pregnant. I hope your never in a horribly abusive controlling relationship and end up pregnant. I hope you never find out that the child you are carrying may have a horribly devasting malformation. Your choice is fine sister but do not judge others for choices they have to make. There have been full-term infants dumped in trashcans and in dumpsters. Maybe if their Mothers wouldn't have been made to feel ashamed in this judgemental society of ours, they would have had abortions in the 1st trimester. To me that seems much more humane. And what about countless children who are already in this world and are not being cared for? maybe you should worry about them instead of other womens bodies and the choices they make with them. Much peace to you.

Alas, that Hippienurse does not understand that an abortion is the most damaging thing the female psyche can go through after being raped. Often birth can be the healing for that situation. But such will never be seen by this culture.

I'll take a stand with you. This was powerful, and ever so true.
Excellent work.

Every day someone or somewhere someone is taken from us. Yes that's life but what can we do.

Emily, this was fantastic. I heard your voice screaming through every single word. Your passion is very admirable and I wish more people would move to make a difference for topics such as these. Amazing work here, and the title was more than perfect!!!
