I’m so confused,
and it’s all his fault.
Cause even though he ripped my heart out,
the smallest of his gestures has me falling in love with him all over again.
I swore to myself that I never would again leave my heart open,
never again leave it out for him to take.
But his gift,
his gift shocked me deep down inside,
shaking me to the depths of my soul.
No one but him would think of it,
no one but him would give it.
And now,
the defenses that I had built up around my heart,
are starting to fade.
I could never trust him though,
because even if it seems that dreams are starting to come true,
the cold hard reality,
is that he will shatter my heart again.
And this time,
I don’t think I could pick up the pieces.

Cool Id name you have, but that is besides the point.
I feel for you in what is happening, loving someone just the be burned is harsh, but faliing for that person again, is a trip to hell and back, I havent been through what you are going through but my sister has, and it was hard watching her fall, then pick up and fall again, she wouldnt listen to us, but she is married now and to someone else who loves her.
So though I dont feel your pain I know your pain, and it is hard, I hope in the end you make the right choice, preferably not the one that brings more heartbreak and anguish from someone that is obvisly playing with your feelings, knowing the key to your heart.
You have written this well showing how you feel, and pulling the reader in to those feelings, thank you for sharing, and may your life be a treasure and you find someone that truely loves you for you.

Take care always

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
