Friends since forever,
lovers since never.
Angie and Rick.
Both confused teens,
with holes in their jeans.
Angie and Rick.
Know all about each other,
closer then sister and brother.
Angie and Rick.
How can they tell how they feel,
so much pain it would heal...
Angie and Rick.
Don't want their love to fade away,
that's where they are today.

"Angie" asks Rick,
"Have you ever been kissed?"
Angie felt embarassed to answer,
but he continued to persist.
"No. I have not."
She answered with a sigh.
"I've been waiting around
for the right guy."

An awkward silence followed,
they didn't know what to do.
Then Angie asked,
"I know many girls have kissed you."
Rick looked back,
at his relationships failed.
Angie was always there,
his endless feelings for her prevailed.

"Angie, with you,
and the happiness you bring...
I mean, compared to you,
those girls don't mean a thing."
In stunned silence she stared,
at her very best friend,
wanting to move foreward,
but not wanting it to end.

"Have you ever been TRULY
first kissed?" she aksed, wanting only the truth.
"No, not really" he admitted,
slowly letting go of his youth.
"Let's make a promise then,"
she said, "if we don't get our first kiss,"
Rick then caught on, "We'll kiss each other,
but never lose sight of this."

They hugged as if to seal,
their secret, best friend, vow.
Rick loved Angie, and Angie loved Rick,
he would give anything to kiss her now...

Angie and Rick,
Friends since forever,
lovers since never.
Angie and Rick,
grew up and apart,
and followed their head, not their heart.
Angie and Rick,
barely kept in touch,
the fallen memories hurt too much.
Angie and Rick,
How can they tell how they feel,
so much pain it would heal...
Angie and Rick,
too busy for their own lives,
and then the day when they reunite arrives.

"Angie" he says, so awkward and dry,
staring stifly at the ground.
"Rick" she replies,
neither one makes a sound.
"How've you been?"
She asks him, looking at how he's grown.
"I've been fine."
He replies, noticing her emotions aren't shown.

"Are you hungry?" Rick asks Angie,
wanting to catch up on old times.
She agrees and then they're off,
you just can't help it sometimes.
"Are you married yet?" she askes,
but his wince breaks her good mood.
Tears and sorrows fill his eyes,
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude."

"It's okay" he responds,
"a Los Vagas wedding, 4 years past.
I gave her my heart, and all my soul,
but she didn't want it to last."
Angie closes her eyes,
and can imagine his pain,
so many words and emotions,
she couldn't come close to explain.

"I am lonely still" she admits,
remembering their promise, long ago.
"I miss when we were together."
He replies, "more then you know."
They talk as if they are in love,
"Have you gotten that first kiss?"
"Well," she blushed "Through every guy,
and mistake, you're the one I miss."

Angie still loves Rick, Rick still loves Angie,
even after all those years,
Rick leaned over the table, into her life,
and kissed away all of her fears.

Angie and Rick,
Friends since forever,
lovers, that are still together.

Nice. A great poem, that wasn't too sappy. At points you could feel their pain and meaning. Very nice.
