Array ( [sid] => 68875 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Anywhere But Down [time] => 2004-10-25 22:40:25 [hometext] => This vividly describes what it's like coming down off of way too much XTC a few days later. [bodytext] => The horizon balances out
I can’t think but the music plays on
Sit back and fight the daze
Circuits flicker towards life
The urge to move and feel
But the body can’t move
All it’s power wasted over time

The walls chase each other
Falling in and swallowing themselves
Focus, and it stops
The deprived mind sees differently
Take in the natural yet foreign movement of the world
Heavier and heavier I feel
Still fighting the blackness

What is it about this thing?
This thing we worship
What power does it have?
The power to make this day unforgettable?
Or the curse of forgetfulness?
Look into the future analyzing the past
Do I laugh at these times?
Or sigh from sorrow?
How will this affect me?
Who have I become?

So many days wasted
Where was I?
Where have I been?

All thoughts now sickening bitter chills
The body feels helpless
As I rip its emotions apart with my control
Music still the only release

Shame makes it way through
Then comes pity…for myself
Remorse and hopelessness invade…have to fight the need to cry
The want for forgiveness lingers
Countered with the stubbornness to ask for it

Deep inside I need
What’s needed remains a mystery
I need more answers

Finally it releases me
The worst is over

I pray for no twin of today
For no one deserves to feel that way [comments] => 6 [counter] => 301 [topic] => 66 [informant] => dewman [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => drugabuse )

detox is hard, know the feeling, when I decided to give up drugs, I felt like someone was using my brain as hot poker holder, and my body as a sharpening tool, not going through that again would rather die.
Awesome write, vivid and described well, cool poem.
