Hovering above the pearly teeth,
Hesitant...
They meet, slowly at first,
Gently caressing, quietly respecting,
Like two strangers...
Gradually, the scarred hands quicken pace,
The bittersweet melodie flooding the room...
A sad tune is being played,
Painful recollections rush back into the pianists' mind...
She stops abruptly,
The voices and thoughts overwhelming,
Torrenting over her head,
Drowning her...
Her solace is given through the comforting feel,
Of cool ivory, almost like satin...
She closes her eyes,
And begins her 'tale' again...
Through the music can she tell of her obscure existence,
Of her fears, of her desires...
The harmony slows, to a tinkling song,
Caressing the hearts of all with celestial hands...
She plays a hymn of love,
Enchanting, flowing through you,
Casting an unyeilding spell...
Head sways with the music,
Her body moving with the notes...
C major, E minor, trill note...
Pleasurable memories of those nights with him,
Coursing through her veins,
Flushing her cheeks,
Making her long for his presence, his touch, his words...
The etude is now a sensual story of their love,
Slow in the beginning, then faster, and faster...
A riveting concerto of lust and yearning...
Her lips part, as if to accomodate his kiss,
Fingers gracefully gliding on the pallid teeth...
Beautiful, how deliciously radiant this etude...
She ends the 'tale' with a bittersweet caress,
Leaving all in utter silence...
Cherishing her gorgeous music,
Wallowing in the melancholic story...
The mutilated hands hover over the keys,
Then rest on her lap...
The dream is over,
Reality hits the audience,
And she is consumed by the deafening applause...
The crimson curtains veil the audience,
Leaves the pianist to her piano, and her bittersweet memories... Oooh, this is nice. Smooth and poetic. Sure wish I could play well and I envy those who do. Linking the piano to the caressing metaphor was magical. Very nice!

I don't even know where to begin ...
I have not sat behind a piano, but I have hid behind a saxaphone and played out emotions to an audience in school, years ago.
I recall the feeling ... this is pehaps much better than you are aware. The trip back in time the words take me on is incredible. And your depiction of the event so dead on !!
Damn, Steph ... You make me want to pull my sax out tonight and play to the moon, if she'd listen ...

Nazmythian ~
