but as it turns out it wasn't simple at all
for he gave me an angel instead

At first I didn't know what to do
but you quickly showed me the way
I was kind of nervous at first
but you let me see things were okay

Now when I look in your eyes
I see the heaven from where you were sent
I can't explain the feelings you give me
but sometimes I feel that I don't deserve it

You've shown me new ways to love
opened my eyes to unseen things
gave me a heaven on earth
you were what I'd been missing

I knew my angel was forever
for forever was what GOD intended
and forever I always thought
was something that never ended

was it that I took you for granted?
For I thanked GOD for you every night
did you feel you had been left in the dark?
that I was too busy enjoying your light?

Earths a scary place without you
no more sunshine now I'm in the dark
nobody to see the tears I cry
no patch for my broken heart

No more days of happiness
no more nights of sweet dreams
no more loving angel
will this pain never ease?

Am I to spend my days alone and wanting you?
or will you fly back to me?
your love is something unbearable to lose

I find myself back down on my knees
the place I was before
this time begging GOD to bring you back
and wanting nothing more

Do my pleas fall on deaf ears?
or was it truly not meant to be?
why did my angel leave?
and never say good-bye to me?

But like all good things
it must come to an end
so tonight when I whisper my prayers
good-bye my angel, my friend.

You can feel the emotion pooring out in this poem, quite touching and written beautifully.
