Glad that I didn’t say my final goodbye,
I was brought back from the brink of death,
When doctors didn’t think I had any fight left.

But I didn’t die on that fateful day,
I lived on so in life I could make my way,
If I’d have died I wouldn’t know Mark,
I would never have found my way out of the dark.

I would never have found my gift of writing,
I am proud that I carried on fighting,
I am especially glad that I have met all of you,
Never is there more a word spoken so true.

I can’t believe I tried to end my young life,
I was so close to becoming death's wife.
How selfish could one person possibly be?
I wasn’t thinking about my friends or family, but me.

They would have been left behind with such grief,
Never knowing how to find their relief,
I remember the night I took the pills,
I was feeling so very unstable, desperate & ill.

My thoughts were like a very muddy pool,
Behind my decision was the deadliest of fuel,
Alcohol & depression a cocktail I’d mixed,
Now thoughts were on death, these thoughts were fixed.

But here I am 3 years later still battling on,
Even though my depression hasn’t long gone,
I am fighting out of sheer determination,
On my soul suicide left no desecration.

Sweet pixie,

I am glad you didn't die too. What a waste of such a sweet
and passionate mind.
"I would never have found my gift of writing,
I am proud that I carried on fighting"

I am proud of you too!!!! Keep on keeping on girl!
Great poem!

~Breezy

Pixie, I like this very much. The only "constructive criticism" I can offer is that you need a period after "death's wife," instead of a comma. Oh yeah, and an apostrophe on "death's." Punctuation being the only thing, but only since you asked. :-)
Cheers!

Keep fighting and I see so much positivity in this poem. You have courage to face your feelings and you pen them exquisitely.

Very high praise for this one Pixie.

Kie

man, your poem has hit me solid. despite the fact that my ex-boyfiend O.Ded no more than 3 months ago, this whole thought of suicide has been collecting inside me for ages...! dep down i'm afraid of doing it and i know that will keep me away from over dose etc. but the fantsasy's i must confess are a huge part of me...

It took a very strong person to write this poem. You have a right to be proud of yourself... "You go girl!"
