On their headstones carve it deep,
This is where our heroes sleep,
Resting from their daily toil,
Buried here beneath the soil,

Those of courage, brave and bold,
Backs of steel and hearts of gold,
Gave their lives so others lived,
Giving all they had to give,

There are none braver, heard the anthem,
Or lain beneath Red, White and Blue,
The Stars and Stripes will wave forever,
Because of heroes such as you,

Those that do not hide from danger,
But hasten to where the troubles worse,
Men or women, all are heroes,
Policeman, Fireman, Doctor, Nurse,

All the souls that went to heaven,
Pilots, Passengers and Crew,
Soldiers, Pentagon officials,
Workers in the towers too,

Say their names with pride and reverence,
What ‘ere their colour or their belief,
One nation under God forever,
Growing stonger in it’s grief,

On their headstones carve it deep,
This is where our heroes sleep,
Though they’re taken from our side,
They’re living in our hearts and minds,

Until once more we see their faces,
And walk in heavens sacred places,
Their deaths will not have been in vain,
Where Truth and Justice and Freedom reign.
