Array ( [sid] => 70834 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Shadow of my Past [time] => 2004-11-09 18:12:37 [hometext] => I based this poem on a short story that I wrote. I t was going to be about something that happened to me, but I changed it slightly, so that it could fit the title. Hope you all enjoy it ^.^ [bodytext] => The shadow of my past

I see you there amongst my dreams,
But as we know, nothing’s what it seems.
I wish we could be together, free as we can be,
Nobody else, just you and me.

As we walk down the dark road, we laugh and we cry.
I look at you, all full of joy. How much longer until this passes by?
I don’t want to leave you, I never did.
Where were all of those emotions, which you hid?

I toss and I turn,
With nothing to earn.
I fall to my knees,
Amongst those dreams.

“I thought you loved me” I say as I cry,
Amongst all the screaming, I hear you sigh.
“I did love you, but that you doubted. I didn’t want it to be this way”
I look in despair, but it’s far too late, he’s gone now. I have nothing to say.

“I HATE YOU!” I scream as loud as I can.
He turns to face me, with skin so tan.
“If that’s how you feel then let me be.”
My eyes fill up with tears; I love him still, that he can’t see.

I chase him down the road so dark,
Chasing a shadow, who once held our loving spark.
I run up to the disappearing figure, and try to touch his back. I ran so fast.
The shadow faded, but all that I was chasing was the shadow of my past.

The shadow of my past

I really liked how you told it like a story and was able to rhyme through it! Not to mention that you used the perfect words to give the reader a picture in their head.
