to keep demons away
but all that comes along
is the same old sorry song
there's a dollar in his hand
and she's already made her stand
while half a pint too low
she's lost the innocent glow
the famine's overrun
a feast to come undone
she's fodder for their thrills
never getting her fill
there's the left seat in the back
and a ticket's all she lacks
she'd fly if she knew how
drowning from the sweaty brow
caustic rain for her tears
in all the dreams lay her fears
she's lost in the maze
some mirage in their haze
counting down the trickling sand
while begging for the hand
she's locked up in her cage
with an empty, soulful rage
trapped within the light
but banished far from sight
she knows not of her crime
though she does the time
penance for the thirst
from never coming first
she takes something for the pain
finds nothing to sustain
because her sorrow's not for free
she's forgetting how to be
a hope to but a few
but none who have a clue
she needs to find the code
release this heavy load
breaking free from the chains
to lose the morning train
harness the storm of energy
resting easy near the tree
but her patience wears her very thin
her balcony loaded up on sin
no one's there to take the chance
the filly needs a powerful stance
a rage that will kill her in the end
of that, she can no longer pretend
she'll slowly die inside
no longer capable to hide
the deadened little spark
with a dull faded mark
the light is going out
her submission lost it's clout
the bound freedom in her betrayed
she thought that it would stay
but just like everything else
in her hand it always melts
hanging on to nothing very long
she's weary of being strong
she'll stray out on her own
and be invisible among the drones
her journey never ends
and the fragments never mend....... [comments] => 4 [counter] => 197 [topic] => 48 [informant] => jaeann [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
