I tried to not believe you
When you said you'd always be here
But I did despite trying not to
And now confirmed is my fear
You never even cared to fulfill this
Promise, even though you sealed it

I'm left to regret
That I ever met
Someone who just walked away
When I needed them there
You never cared to stay
With the responsibility to bear

You were my father
And you just walked out the door
And left my mother and your daughter
Without a care forever more
I used to think you'd come back
But you never did to this world shrouded in black

I feared to believe you
Even through I wanted to
I lost a part of me
And I've never been the same
I wish for you to come back and be
A father and take away this pain

You missed me growing up to be
Someone to be proud of
Because you chose to leave
And now I doubt anyone's love
These tears staining the page
Shows I miss you still, the feelings didn't fade [comments] => 12 [counter] => 386 [topic] => 48 [informant] => essentially9 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 31 [ratings] => 7 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

great work you did well to get it all down on paper, your father leaving obviously had a traumatic effect on you now you've shared your pain with others. There's an old proverb a problem shared is a problem halved.
All the best.

Johnny.

Very sad and heartfelt. You did a beautiful job with a very difficult issue. I hope sharing helps ease the pain.

God Bless

this so sad but beautifull.
It's a masterpeice.
I raised my three children with no help from their father. I know it's hard. He lives in the same town now and is in bad health but at least his kids know where to find him now.
Don't ever give up hope.
luv, huggs, faith, hope, joy, peace,
emy

Terrible me missed this one lil sis, a write that i can say stands the test of time. never the less dear Jen, you make me find truth in your words. Most poems these days i never finish, i never get the the end of them aroud here. I've always been able to do so with yours though, no matter if it was your longest poem ever, or an off night, Your writes exceed with pure heartfelt emotion. I've said this many times, here is it again; Be you Jen. Even if the note made was and additive then doesnt make it lesser of now.
