How did I arrive in the world of a madman
Deep inside my soul it lies
The darkness I hide within my eyes
Beneath the flesh, beneath the bone
Is the man forsaken and all alone
Things that only I can see
They whisper and shout and call to me
No mosters lie beneath the bed
Because they lurk within my head
A sense of peace I'll never find
With no coherence in my mind
The visions which I have viewed
Plunge me into a darkened mood
I dream of worlds so cold and so black
I awake as cold sweat trickles down my back
I feel a searing shot of pain
But where it's from I can't explain
Little by little, every day
I feel my sanity slipping away
It presses on it calls my name
The madness that I couldn't tame
I still dance to that eerie song
Through the night and all day long
You act as though you cannot hear
The things that cause me so much fear
You said I was safe but I knew you lied
So I scramble for a place to hide
There's no reason for you to stay
I do not need you anyway
But wait! I can't be left alone
That ring I hear is not the phone
First I'm happy then I'm sad
Once was frightened now I'm mad
How the hell can you not see
The creature staring back at me
THe little ones who won't be quiet
And all within who always riot
He and it and they and the other
They're the ones I cannot smother
I try to fight them but it's no use
I just can't take much more abuse
WIth everything gone and nothing to lose
Reality fades and madness ensues [comments] => 5 [counter] => 166 [topic] => 64 [informant] => MasterWeasel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ambiguous )
