Forty grand a year and a job up town.
A semi in Surrey. Two up and two down.
The sun always shines on my front door.
I’ve got everything that I’ve been hoping for.

Life, wonderful now, wonderful now.
Life is wonderful.

Over Tower Bridge we’ll make our way
to the air-conditioned multi-storey workplace.
At five-to-nine I’ll check that all my pens are there,
Then rest for four more minutes in my swivel chair

Life, wonderful now, wonderful now.
Life is wonderful.

Today in The Times, interest rates are soaring.
I hope I get a rise to pay my mortgage.
Perhaps I could ask James is he would have a word with KJ.
God, I hate these trains – the bloody things are always late.

Life, wonderful now, wonderful now.
Life is wonderful.

I spoke to James at lunch and didn’t seems to know
if money was the best subject to dwell on.
There were rumours in the air that could effect our lives:
They say the whole group is being privatised.

Life, wonderful now, wonderful now.
Life is wonderful.

I took my photographs and put them in my case.
I’ve always wanted to escape the rat race.
I shredded what was left of my desk diary
and stole the rubber stamp just to remind me.

Life, wonderful now, wonderful now.
Life is wonderful.

They repossessed my house on a very rainy Friday
It seemed like a good time to take a holiday.
Now I’ve been on this weekend break for six years
And I’ve found out just how wonderful REAL life is.

Life, wonderful now, wonderful now.
Life is wonderful. Truly wonderful.
