open the package carefully there's something’s you must do.
Be gentle with the wrapping the strings are ties that bind,
the objects in the package control the heart and mind.
Inside you'll find emotions powerfully strong, yet true,
trust my words, be still to know, they're designed especially for you.
Guidance makes a difference in the choices you will make,
Truth sooths the heart and soul when all others will forsake.
Knowledge is the power to excel through out your life,
Wisdom comes with knowledge to learn what's wrong and right.
In the center of the package is the object that's called Love,
it embraces every element to insure what you're made of.
Nothing is more powerful, be assured that you will find,
in the center of your being Love endures the test of time.
This gift to you begins today no matter where you start,
the circle of love remains the same, deep within your heart.

Thank you for your kind comments Juliette,
I was inspired to write this poem, "The Gift" by my son, around the time he was to turn 14. It was a VERY tough time for him. As a matter of fact, he is now 19 today. Happy Birthday Eddie!
