I came upon a clearing, so beautifully laid.
Songs from the trees, in the wind, swirled;
The streams running by me laughed at the world.
But 'twas the black rose that commanded my eyes.

A dark magic did this rose o'er me possess;
Gazing at its petals, my heart distressed.
Its thorns promised an easeful death, as it called:
"Come, follow MY song; I will catch your fall."
And death swooped in out of the skies.

The breeze now raged against the trees,
And the brooks became like stormy seas,
And a petal from the rose was caught by the gust
To rest on a flower--which turned to dust.
And I watched the rose consume the valley, spreading like lies. very well written, i loved it... i felt a lot of emotion and your wording created a nice flow, but also created some... whats the word im looking for... it felt like i was reading a good book, i just wanted to keep going and see what happens... that doesnt happen often to me with poems, though i do greatly enjoy reading them... they just dont all have the... aura that this one does... keep up the good work
