[hometext] => 'The Captive' is not only about an imprisoned man but also the sinful world we live in. This poem has 2 stanzas, 10 lines per stanza, 10 syllables per line and aabb rhyming.
[bodytext] => Caged in four corners, locked up in sorrow I no longer await for tommorrow Darkness consumes the only light I hold To the devil my soul has long been sold What is to regret? Nothing's left for me Long have I been robbed of my dignity I am confused, not knowing who to blame Through the years I have been put to great shame Is God to blame for the massive error, Of creating man, who sins with fervor? Violence spreads across this sinful earth Peace surely is in extinction and dearth Youth wasted in the shallowest of deep From the once slow, every pace seems to leap, Out of what was good, to the wrong doing I ask, where is everybody going? Fortunate I am, to be in this cell Locked from the world and from the true hell Caged in four corners, locked up in sorrow The world awaits for God's heavenly glow [comments] => 3 [counter] => 199 [topic] => 65 [informant] => Ada [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )
