What will I roll this time with the dice of life ?
Expectations, will they play tricks on a tired mind ?
Will I climb more peaks than sink into muddy pools ?

Fate steers the course of our lives, bends us to her bidding
If we break then it is her choosing, she commands
My spirit is bowed, mistress be kind
Do not taunt me with a room I cannot get inside

To those with whom harsh words were traded
My hand raised not in anger now but accepting peace
For the souls dear departed, those who watch over
May your rest be as soothing as the first light of spring

To the friends I have made, may our bond remain strong
Thank you seems too simple for the way you touched my heart
May I lean on your shoulder when the road of trouble rises
My hand outstretched to guide you, as we run up the hill of hope

When choices, though difficult, need to be made
Allow me to tread the path of sensibility
Do not let me walk in all engulfing selfishness
The drug of envy not welcome, it should not cloud my mind

The world is still a wondrous place
Only the plagues of our making will stop the seeds of good
As the bell rings, sings away the old year
I am wishing us all simply so much for the new [comments] => 3 [counter] => 186 [topic] => 21 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
