homes destroyed
bodies mangled
in the wake of her path

she roared
from the bottom
of the deep
blue sea

indiscriminately
comsuming all
everything in her path

where are the children
where is my wife
where is he
my devoted husband

he was out on the sea
as he does everyday

he must come back
he will come back
he did yesterday

how will I go on
I have lost everything
Every thing

I have a picture of him
you see
he has a mark above
his eye

you must help me find him
he was my everything

broken dreams
scattered screams

women and men
patting their bodies
in grief and despair

have you seen my child
she was right over there
two days ago
I will sit here
until
she comes back

like a miracle
out of the chaos

floating
on a mattress
is it her

Oh please God
let it be

I can't stand the
smell any longer
too much to bear

too many reminders
of that day

when she, Tsunami
came roaring through
our quiet little village

it was just yesterday
when she sat on my lap
tinkered with my hair

Big brown eyes
staring up at me

now the eyes of
my village
will never be the same

we are different today

those who have survived
ask themselves
why me

why did you not
take me
with the rest
of my family

I do not want
to go on without them

there is nothing left
nothing

except the stench
of a former smile
a giggle lost
but
never forgotten

Love the stench of a smile line.
it's a very human look at the tragedy,
really touching.
