Memories lost like a pocket watch
In a roadside cafe.
Stumbling onto the freeway,
Looking for an exit.
Remains of a life once full,
Lay rotting and scattered, soaking up the sun.
Bone, hair, blood, mashed into the pavement.
The beautiful colors of life,
Slung against this black canvas.
A drunken car wreck of a kiss.
Passion fading away with the traffic.
The speakers twitch and fade,
As the battery gives way.
Acid burning thru cables,
Severing ties the years wore thin.
The only person who found neutrality
Was the hooker.
Silently standing on Jefferson and Baltimore.
Watching me bleed in the glass,
Shattered on the road.
Watching the traffic disappear into the twilight. Places of intersection,
Times of passing and forgetting.
