Dedicated to, “The Man In Black” Dale, the Intimidator, raced this track He loved this life, it was his home Because of him, the sport has grown. Both loved and hated, either way He was the best, then and today The kindest father, a farmer too He taught Dale Jr. all he knew. He lived to drive, he never quit Just wasted time, he said to pit I’ve got to lay the hammer down And tame these tracks, while I’m around. Seven times, he proved his skill The Winston Cups, his might and will He was the master, drafting king He made that slingshot, everything. Now he’s taken, that last turn four One last time he hears, the crowds that roar They’re shouting “three,” and “win this race” Now he has gone, can’t be replaced. He’ll always live here in my heart The grandest legend, left his mark He was a hero, one I shall miss He took the risk, and he knew this. But never will his memory fade With all the records he has made “The Man In Black,” still is the best In heaven now, is where he’ll rest. So, now I’d like to say goodbye I’m sorry Dale, you had to die My tears still fall because of you Just one more thing you have to do. Look down on them, and keep them safe And watch your son, win one more race And just remember, on the track You’ll always be, “The Man In Black.” [comments] => 0 [counter] => 241 [topic] => 38 [informant] => Joker17 [notes] => [ihome] => 1 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Tributes )
