Array ( [sid] => 82048 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => My Children [time] => 2005-01-29 21:17:03 [hometext] => Just thinking about all the negativity in this world. Makes me worry about my kids. [bodytext] => Watch them grow and change
each and every day.
Pieces of you and I
reflected in subtle little ways.

She has my hair,
irish tint of red.
He has your eyes,
blue....and the curly head

Monsters or angels.
What shall they become?
Love and try to guide them.
Nervously wait for the outcome.

So many young folks seem...
so far gone in these tortured times.
Wandering empty shells.
Living life without reason or rhyme.

Cold, cruel world
with its calculating games.
Haters, Judgers, Racists,
spouting forth their spiteful names.

So I fret and worry days on end
about my two young ones.
I know I'm not perfect and
surely not this world.
That, I could not.....
would not pretend.

How do young ones so easily
go off- astray?
Lack of proper rearing
some say that comes in to play.
I question myself as a mother...
Somedays...

So the mother longs for patience
wisdom and gentle kindness.
Protect them if I can.
Keep them from the ugliness.
Such an enormous task at hand.

Try to teach them tolerance,
honesty, charity, peace.
Try to teach them...
We are all connected
in this web of life.
Strong ties which shall...
never cease. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 156 [topic] => 23 [informant] => deadheadpoet [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 18 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FamilyPoems )

Very heartfelt, and it's sad how it is true. I am 17 and I have finally come out of the uhh darkness I guess, I was pretty messed up. I hope your kids don't end up like I was.
