Array ( [sid] => 8209 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => My Revenge, My Demise [time] => 2002-12-07 23:30:00 [hometext] => I don't remember what inspired this poem, I think I just came up with the ending and decided to write a poem based on it. [bodytext] => I'm battered and bruised; he's left his mark
Wounds inflicted under cover of dark
Fresh gashes mingle with old scars
Bones are broken and flesh is charred

Many times I've escaped, thought I was free
But always I'm hunted (he's after me)
Please help me to break all these chains
So I can turn and fight against this pain

I've had enough of his scorn and contempt
I must have the revenge of which I've dreamt
I must tear off these shackles holding me down
I must dethrone this cruel killer and demolish his crown

With a SNAP the chains break, at last I am free
Free to destroy the one who tortured me
The roles are reversed, now I'M behind
As he flees from my wrath, his death on his mind

He's cornered at last, my vengeance is near
He slinks back from me, as above him I sneer
His eyes look to mine, something gleams inside
But nothing else matters, as long as he dies

The hour has come; retribution will be mine!
I raise my broken sword and scream a battle cry
The sword slices down and sweeps off his head
But when the dust settles, there I lay...dead
