Who spoke to me of life and poetry,
The trusting hand of friendship
She extended to me.

With laughter shared, sometimes a tear
Our friendship it did grow,
We exchanged thoughts across the web
On life's strange ebb's and flow.

She spoke of truth and honesty
And of the grander plan,
Of how at times throughout one's life
You have to make a stand.

But then one day a message came
A message hard and cold,
Cut the act, don't speak to me
Our friendship it did fold.

There was no rhyme or reason
And though I made a heartfelt plea,
The hand of trust and friendship
She now withdrew from me.

One must respect one's wishes
It is their choice in the end,
But it's left me in a quandry

Really liked you poem, where it reminded me of a particular friendship that ended quite abruptly at one time not long ago. And I love your ending question ~ "How does one define a friend"?~ Where we may all have our own definitions. When friendship ends with no explanation, as human, we ask- Were they ever our true 'friends' in the first place? And makes us question what it is a friend is really suppose to be...
Really liked your poem, I am sure a lot of people will be able to relate.
Thanks for sharing~
Tracey
