As a kid it was the Lone Ranger,
He made all the bad guys run away pronto,
The masked man and his good mate Tonto.

And hard guy Clint let no one get in his way,
As he asked some punk to make his day,
Followed his every move upon silver screen,
Transition from cowboy to cop best seen.

Cowboy, fireman and also prisoner of war,
Steve McQueen one of the best I ever saw,
Cool, calm and collected, a glint in the eye,
Was this man confident or modest and shy?

I look around at what the kids have got as hero,
And the answer is today it’s totally zero,
Perhaps it’s me and these passing years,
Do the kids today only want drugs and beers?

Very true... It seems there are more role models interested only in themselves and fewer who really give a damn about the power they hold over the youth. No wonder respect and courtesy are lacking, just watch an NBA game.
An excellent write
Larry
