A Memorable Day in History

Historic moment for Democracy
And sacrifices paid off hundred fold,
They voted for great Lady Liberty-
Democracy, though fledgling, does take hold.

At risk they came, endangered to explode,
But spurned the mortar rounds with bravery,
And came in multitudes to cast their vote.
To vote for freedom and sweet liberty.

The ink-stained thumb or finger proudly held
high up, -tells of success and victory,
And manifests to the entire world.
They overcame defying tyranny.

A memorable day in history!
First time appearance in the middle east,
But overcoming dread, the torch of liberty
Burnt out the shells of henchmen terrorists.

Defeatist senators, let them be awed,
And take their utterances back in shame,
Iraqis with the help of heroes fought,
And henceforth never more will be the same.

Athletes of spirit,- brawny, sinewy,
A Random Thing that moves the pole - surprise?
Athletes muscular chant "Liberty!",-
The fountain spring that moves the boundaries.

Observe oh world the stunning exercise
Of freedom building. slowly by degrees,
So worthy of brave heroes' sacrifice
That brought the terror kingpins to their knees.

Iraqis leap high with exuberance,
And show their ink-stained thumb along the road
As they advance with pride and confidence
The fledgling steps to freedom planned by God.

This is Election day, - Election night!
America and Iraq take ye pride!
And thank the heroes on the starry plain,
Praise God they live! - and did not die in vain.!
