with many purposes.
She is written by a man
who seeks serenity in his imagery of her,
sturdiness and passion.
She is composed by a mother,
a brilliant and skilful poet
who writes with a critical eye,
about the way things are
and the way things used to be.
And a father,
discerning man that he is,
writes her yesterday,
today
and always,
in subtle, gentle words,
imbuing her with meaning,
connections, value and purpose.
His words run deeper than she will ever realize.

She is a limerick,
written by friends
who laugh at her predictability.
She is read by students as a psalm,
a word of truth?
a familiar invocation
repeated over and over again.

A brother glances at her rarely
and spends little time
seeking out deeper meaning.
Perhaps he doesn't understand
poetry.

Often, she is written in poor form,
or misread by "poets"
too busy to read into her words.
Poets who produce dribble
and question her lines and stanzas,
her structure,
knowing their own work is bunk.

She writes herself,
a most difficult task.
She scratches out,
edits,
revises,
proof reads,
spell-checks,
scraps and
starts again,
every day of her life.

She is the most vocal critic of her poem,
having read many better.
She needs form, colourful language,
a better word for "being."

Perhaps a haiku is the most powerful
complete, direct, thoughtful, uncluttered,
simplified yet rich in meaning.
Powered by the world around her.

Assemble all of the poets and the critics-
a writers' workshop,
and compose her life
for she is a poem.

this poem is booker material. talk about describing perfectly the inner life of a woman. you captured the calm, the anxiety, the uncertainty; you are a tower of strength with a rare vulnerability. you have penned the verses of women's souls.

Yeah, I'm with Sarah22 on this one. You've communicated such a powerful metaphor with such fluidity that the poem decievingly complex. Goes down easy but stays in your system and leaves you wanting more. You build without stopping until finishing with a powerfully satisfying image of self that speaks to a universal audience.
I've been a fan since the first poem, but you blew me away with this one.
