From a shelf
Just three years past,
It all happened so fast.
One morning I awoke
To the smell of smoke.
Mother was burning a rope
She wouldn’t give me the scope.
Soon I heard the police
And felt tension increase.
I was shooed out of the room
And left to assume.
Then I was screaming for dad,
And going mad.
A tall man came in
And gave me a sad grin
Then he said to me
“I’m sorry, but you must see
your daddy has died.”
But this was denied
It was not something I could handle
It was all just a stupid scandal.
Then mommy opened the door
And fell to the floor.
I rushed over to her
And saw her stir.
Then quietly she spoke
Said daddy was with other folk.
My back hit a wall,
I could no longer stand tall.
An unfamiliar sense of loss crept over me
Suddenly I just wanted to flee.
The only thought in my mind
Was “how could he be so blind?”
But soon I learned to deal,
And then began to heal.
Now I can forgive him
And stop feeling grim
For finally his letter was read
And it simply said
He’s sorry for the pain, but its not our fault.
He just had to put things to a halt.
Daddy I love you still
And I hope I fulfill
Any dreams you held for me.

Whoa. I'm glad this wasn't inspired by a personal experience you've had.

I'm glad this didn't happen to you also. But, it may well help some people. Thanks
