Fitfully she lies
amidst the flowers
of the evening air

The breeze blows
over her
she laughs
and bats her lashes

He grabs her hand
in his, so small
he longs to hold
her
in his dreams

They walk and laugh
cotton candy sticky fingers
reach for fresh squeezed
lemonade

Neon flashes
the fun house
mirrors
capture youth
and twist it

Squealing metal
holds the future
it sways above
the midway
colors blur

The evening flowers
say good morning
before going
to sleep
Lights fade
at dawn

Moving on
they hold hands
and share
the elephant ear
and carnies bark the world o'er.

This is wonderful. The more I read your poetry, the more I like it. This reminds me of something I wrote and posted forever ago called Mother's Day...about my daughter and a boy she has grown up with. Oh, I really like this one, too.
