Feels Like I Have Somthing to Say

In these fields of dreams
it seems that I can't see
what is real.
I feel as if we're all the same,
sisters and brothers
from different mothers,
different colors,
or persuasions,
don't seem to factor
into this equation.
But then I am convinced otherwise.
I see warriors with marching feet,
fear in the midday heat,
gangs and mafioso,
carving up our streets
for money.
For pride.
My thoughts drift to the suburbs.
It seems worse here,
than it is there,
but there's no fear,
so I can't compare
a bored teenager,
to the real danger
of bullets flying by your head,
while the other wishes they were dead.
Corpses in the city,
corpses in the class room,
kids leaving the earth.
Too soon.
It doesn't get better.
There are wars abound,
still genocide around,
Asia's had a natural disaster,
but even in the months after
the death toll whom we're giving aid,
doesn't match Africa dying of AIDS,
while at home we're banning gay pride parades,
giving kids a dollar for lemonade
and saying that's our charity.
Life isn't fair.
Life isn't right.
We're so unbalanced,
so willing to fight,
we've got soldiers in the streets,
in the schools,
in the libraries,
in the Middle East,
and we still don't have peace.
I just want to say I'm sorry.
I'm sorry I haven't done more.
I'm sorry I'm not doing more,
and I'm sorry for all of us out here,
who have taken from the store,
and haven't given back.
May those up high forgive us,
because those down here,
won't.

Right on man! I can totally agree with what you're saying. You should spread this poem and get it out there. Keep up the good work.
