Array ( [sid] => 87957 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Her Final Plea [time] => 2005-03-19 03:05:43 [hometext] => This poem is about my mom and her father (My Grandfather) He is dying.. and he put her through a lot. Sadly.. i think i will be the one saying this to MY father soon... [bodytext] => Tears slide down her face without reason or warning
Believe it or don't but she's mourning
She's mourning for a man she once despised
None of that matters as she looks into his crystal like eyes
The life fades from them as each second passes by
His breathing grows weaker as she begins to cry
She slowly looks to floor
Because she now knows her father is no more

As she stands at his beside saying her final goodbye
One question comes to mind "why"?
Why weren't you the father you were supposed to be?
Was it something i did daddy? Please tell me was it me?
Don't ignore me daddy
Open your eyes look at me
Tell me why you were never there
Why you even wasted your time pretending to care
Don't go daddy
Please i need you don't leave me

She turns to see the nurses enter the room
She's too stubborn to believe he's doomed
She fights giving it her all
She realizes she is too weak and her voice echoes through the halls

No stop!! don't take out the I.V
Please i beg you don't take my daddy from me
Leave that there he needs to breathe!!
Daddy don't go..don't leave
Wake up daddy i need you
Stop!! where are you taking him? What are you going to do?
Open your eyes daddy their killing you!!

Knowing her efforts failed she bows her head
Avoiding any eye contact with the now empty bed
With very little energy left she drops to her knees
She looks up and begins her final plea

Dear God please let him through Heaven's pearly gates
Please remind him thats it's never too late
Take him by the hand
And let him know it's never too late to stand up and be a man
To be the father i needed him to be
It's never too late to love me
Please God forgive him for his sins
And please God tell him this again
Tell him even after everything we've been through
I've forgiven him too

A remarkably written piece of poetry.
The words touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. A truly touching piece that will touch whom ever may read it.
Well done.
So sorry for the pain though.
Hugs,
Sue

I never expected to be sitting here and crying on a Saturday morning with spring blossoming outside but this poem sure brought it on.

I think your poem was composed very well. It touched the deepest parts of me. It also inundated me with losses that are still fresh memories.

For everybody that has read my poem. (My Granfather) Henry George Overy is on his final breath. The doctors are taking him off all machines, and they say he has a matter of hours to live. His body is shutting down. For everybody that read my poem. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you all.

Your words tore at my heart I am sitting here with tears flowing on the keyboard. How beautifully expressed.
My heart goes out to you.

Your grandad and family are in my prayers
May the angels look after you all
