To buy the household things.
And before I knew it I
Was browsing necklaces and rings.

I picked out one of each
And tossed them in the cart,
Then instead of heading toward
Toilet paper I made my way toward the art.

After picking out a picture for
My bedroom wall,
I knew what must come next was
The light bulb for the hall.

On my way to the bulbs
I stopped and picked out some towels.
Then I knew there could be no more distractions,
I needed that wooden dowel.

When I reached the dowels I
Quickly picked one out.
I knew I should get out of there
Before my wallet was in a drought.

Then before I knew what hit me,
Close to the check out line.
That bright pink shirt I wanted
Was on clearance, It’s a sign!!!

I put on my mental blinders
And said no more stops today.
When I’ll be damned if that
Voice overhead didn’t say…..
