Maybe we prefer the dark, less conspicuous
There is no cover up or reflection there
Do we have an existence all our own

Copy, mimic or impersonate
We never go first, just seem to follow to relate
In the daylight, boundaries are forbidden
Lurking in the darkness, the restrictions are hidden

Peering out to sometimes look around
So disorientated my shadow can't be found
Who really follows whom
An uncertainty, but rather shrewd

Are these just crude reflections of myself
Or are we part of a symbiotic relationship
Joined together in a synchronized dance
As if connected by the hip, like Siamese twins

Just play hide-and-go-seek
Yet without the thrill of discovery
There's no risk taking
Seems to be an injunction against any independent function

Is there darkness and light
Or are we always in the shade
Not totally without vision
But obscure enough to be invisible

When in sync we function as one
Seeming to move in perfect harmony and union
My self and silhouette standing by
To determine whether we are one, or is there a you and I

I really like this, makes me think.
I still do not know what it is about, but then you may not even know what it is about either...

I dunno.. to me, it seems to be a mixture of things..like one part, sounds like you're talking about people copying each other, another seems to be that people are the same.

I don't know, I'm probably totally wrong on this.

Great write,
Phil

Terry, as usual my friend a very thought provoking write you have penned. I really loved the last stanza- this line~~My self and silhouette standing by to determine whether we are one, or is there a you and I.~~Ah, yes have pondered that myself a time or two. Much peace to you. Laura

Thought provoking, indeed... obviously, I'm not alone in suggesting as much. I'd turn this over a few times in my mind if I had more than two hours sleep last night (I'll need to come back another time then...).

Personally, I like that you didn't hand it to us entirely. There's a couple different thought processes that may come from this. That is, I think, as it should be. Well done!

Drawn in,
~SNM~

I would really like to know where your mind took you while penning this one Will, I think you have successfully delved into ambiguity and left much room for interpretation here ... I love that !!! Another stone stepped over. Man there are so many different directions I can wander with these words ... That Terry ... is poetry !!!
