and watch us celebrating his big day,
would he be impressed
at our festive best,
and our
posh oh gosh
so m a r v e l o u s display?

If Jesus could be sitting at our table
and see our banquet fit for royalty,
do you think he’d be so proud
and cheer our efforts loud
and thank us kindly for our loyalty?

If Jesus took a look at all our presents
and knew the cost we tossed away to buy,
and the magnitude of sweat
and work they took to get,
do you think we'd see contentment in his eye?

And if Jesus stood there watching
us all shopping
pushing through the crowds
of Christmas rush,
do you think his eye might hint
with pride at our hard stint?
would he pat us on the back
and sing out 'thank you much’?

Don’t know why
I am asking myself questions,
just feeling something doesn’t feel quite right,
guess it’s something about war,
of those whispers at my door
threatening that 'soon we'll have a fight.’

Just seems to me that something’s
not real balanced,
just seems to me that killing’s very near,
just hard to listen totally to carols,
when armies have ‘objectives’ very clear.
Just wondering ,
has someone LOST a message?
Just wondering,
did Jesus leave it once?
Just thinking he might say...
‘Forget this festive play,
just. give me
love and peace on earth'.
But,
hey,
that's just my hunch. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 151 [topic] => 51 [informant] => Kay-P-M-Devenish [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Event )

Great write! I think Jesus would not be pleased as to how society has made Christmas out to be! He would probably be crying! Christina
