Array ( [sid] => 9124 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Setting Sail to No Avail [time] => 2002-12-23 16:00:00 [hometext] => This poem aims to transcend the banality of true love and reach for something more...for what i don't know. [bodytext] => I'm sorry i'm looking at you with condescending eyes,
It's just too easy to blame you for the way you are.
Still, I can't stare past your lies and into your soul because
The symbolic sighs held within are too dark for me to divide.

Spreading like your thighs, your memory of me is expanding--
It's cluttered with dogma and pornography. Catholic liturgy casts
A cynical glow upon my cheeks, I weep. Yet no light from above
Illuminates my drudgery, but rather the inconsistencies of my being.

You and I could be a single concupiscent entity, yet you blush
At the mere mention of manogomy, you feign ***** me
For the sheer pleasure of reducing me to nothign more than
Post-coital jetsam; the detritus of your conquest, the spoils

Of our tainted love. Instead, I'm shipwrecked on your beach,
Pushing through the sand with my feet, wanting to know--
My heart is full of love and your shores are littered with dead
Doves. You've fallen from grace; you're burried in sand

Up to your neck and down past your toes. I'm calling to you
While the waves crash beside me like a couple in the midst of
Passionate throes. You and I were once capable of weathering
The storms of ineptitude, but circumstances fall quicker than rain,

Dropping on the surface of my ocean. I absorbe the sky, swallowing
Its tears, so that our salts will combine and season my mouth. I hope
The next time we kiss, that you'll be able to tast all that has impeded
Me in my search. I've scoured the coast of your beautiful body, looking

For a way inside, but to no avail.
I must set sail and leave your shores behind. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 22 [informant] => stonedpoet777 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

This is rather odd, but I must say I like it. I dont get thought why someone's shores would be littered with dead doves... In any case you get a big U for UNIQUE
