I can quickly catch you up to speed
I have just talked about love, money and sex
Being born, feeling alone, you now know the rest

In a stanza or two, I could capture the heavens
In a verse or three, I can describe for you eternity
This funky tune is alive, I saw it groove and jive
In the blink of one brown eye, I sold you a expensive deadly lie

I would create for you the vision of my ancestors
But, how does one encapsulate the true spirit of his predecessors
Writing about them begins to hurt, these words are ironically fighting back
I can’t do the reader very much justice in this condition, so I foolishly attack

The poems of our fathers ring true at last
An original flow and theory moving smoothly past
The writers of the heavens fear no mortal pen
The ink they dip is the blood of the Holy man

A sonnet so perfect, melodic, so easy on the ear
A message with a purpose, a neurotic, nothing to fear
Their ideas were prolific with revolutionary undertones
Minds so brilliant, writing turns to scripture, no longer just poems

For inspiration, I personally look to the stars
An intoxication of infinite possible ways to starts
The endings are elusive and maliciously hard to find
Don’t look back now, but that there, was mine

i liked this poem alot. though, to be brutally honest, i'm not too sure what your 'ancestor's poetry' is. i'm thinking it's symbolic, but what do i know? :P

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
