Walking over empty, shining tile, I try to make you understand the freedom that you cannot have. With me in my dreams you are a caged bird fighting to be free, too afraid to sing, to spread your wings and flee. In my dreams you sadden me, your dreams are only dreams to me; my dreams are in the desert sands; your dreams held out of reach by empty, dying hands.
You dream of India; I dream a world I cannot understand. You are lost to me and cannot see the soft and sudden grace that, in you, continues me. I struggle in my need for you, to keep you safely out of harm. These freedoms that i hold to me; that i do not dream; that i take for granted, you cannot have. If I could for one minute in my life enter you and show you the things that I have seen, I would show you what I see in you. The softest plain beneath the sunlights face; the drying rain upon a mountains grace and towering storm. There is so much pain in me that I do not let you see, there is so much sadness deep in memory.
I wish forever that I could hold you safe, but I cannot be those hands that hold , because all life must be free, and all love must be earned. These things in life and love and dreams are learned, and you in time will grow to know what love has bound you to your fate; and know also that that love cannot set you free.
There is nothing that I can say to make you understand. I hope you find your way.

To write you, I fear I lose my strength with words.

Always, abraham

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
