All good things must come to an end.
You’re not like an enemy, but
I don’t consider you a friend.

You opened me up to a world
I never knew not long ago.
It isn’t like I hate you, but
You simply can’t be all I know.

Strain has burdened this empty heart,
And you had to set it ablaze
Didn’t you? Give me those matches!
…Promise me you’ll change your ways…?

See? This is why I have to change,
Why I can’t care at all for you.
Fire must never be played with,
But it’s just all we seem to do.

So I’ll take the ember you love
And I’ll hide it in a safe place—
A room filled with our memories,
Where they will burn without a trace.

Bravo! This is highly honest and straightforward, with a powerful, poetic kind of voice. Excellent work.

Hoping you'll see such things repaired, renewed. Keep it up.

Andrew

How very captivating it is! I love this piece! ..yeah, yeah the ending - everything just phenominal! like always..

but this piece, the fire and the matches its just amazing.. this is really.. im speechless.. the matches and "conversation" if you will, in the third stanza add such a personal touch but its put in perfectly with the poem and you're able to switch back with such wonderful flow.

This was absolutely beautiful Marc.. and I just don't know how to put it in words.. this was just.. ... ........
