is a sad comment lament.
If you read, comment,
so I know that what went
through your head
was more than idle thoughts
of this week's rent,
or if you sent
a thank you note the other day.
But if idle thoughts you indeed do have,
then my work must be terribly bad.
For if I can't make you feel,
feel a little glad,
that special kinda sad
from getting to relate,
then maybe I wasn't great.
In that case,
please just pass me by.
I won't cry
over words you wouldn't have meant,
a few words to cure your conscience,
a mediocre vent.
So if you don't feel from a poem,
can't get into the way it flows,
ignore the author's notes,
leave it as a lesson to change.
And for the love of Mick,
don't comment.

and i have thought the same. excellent ending, quite the twist. your poems certainly were always worth the reading, even though i seemed to never read them as much as i could have.
