TEDDIES ON A SHELF

The young woman ran straight to her room.
With excitement she cried, "Oh, Mom
you saved my Teddies and they're still in costume.
Betty Bear, Teddie, and even their little baby Jennie.
I still love them so much, thank you for saving them....
you're such a thoughtful Mommie.

"They taught me more than you could ever imagine
When I was frightened, they hugged my heart,
When I was sad, their hugs comforted my soul
before my tears had even begun.
They were such a big part of my life,
I don't know where to start............"

"If it wasn't for them, there were times when
I would have simply given-up!
But, after a big hug from them, they taught
me to endure and then get right up!
I spoke to them about everything, they
helped me to reason and to think,
It was those conversations with them
that helped me to rethink!"

When someone had hurt me so badly,
One of their hugs taught me to forgive gladly
I knew there had to be a God somewhere,
for they taught me love.....
And so they even drew me closer to
the Loving God up above."

I'm taking them down off the self......
Taking them home and hugging them again
to myself
"Now, that I'm married someday I'll
have a little one,
My teddies can hug my little one like they hugged me
and their life too sweeten."

So the young lady did just that.....
She took her Teddies down from that shelf
for yet another chat.
She hugged them to her warm heart....
told them once again how much they were loved.
Awaiting the arrival of her little one......
we know they will never go unloved.

As well you should write children's poetry. You would be great at it, Connie. My children's stuffed animals got dry cleaned and sealed and saved for my grandchildren. Their trains were boxed up and all their Star Wars stuff was packed away. I couldn't bear to give it up. Now my grandsons play with the very same toys their dads played with from infancy on up. They love knowing it belonged to Daddy.

Much Love,
Rita

What a sweet and loving Ode - so deserved - to Teddy bears.
Yes, they are precious. How many memories cling to them - precious memories and that keep spreading their warmth over the years.
A heirloom of its own.
A wonderful job you did here ConSue, and I agree with Morning Dove you should write children's stories. You have a great gift for it.
A special blessing.
Use your gift!
Warm love
Elizabeth
