WALKING TOGETHER

Walking together, but not hand in hand....
50 years of walks, his hands behind his back,
Harold says, "I can't think if I hold your hand."
Faith understands, there's n'er a comeback

Their road of life has never been simple.....
Raising 10 children, all hard working people!
Been on their farm in Illinois for over 50 years,
Now their bodies have bowed to age, to graceful cheers.

Harold always says, "As long as we are able, Faith....
I intend to fend for you and me, maybe later as a wraith."
She nods her head in agreement, same words she's heard
Nye on 50 years now, she chuckles. she's easy tempered.

How they have loved their walks together.....
N'er to complain, nor argue, silent love for each other.
Side by side they've grown closer and more comfortable.
'Tis true for them, golden years, indeed, faithful and loyal.

"For my walking
partner who died
His June birthday.
He would have been
73 years young.

Grow old with me! The best is yet to be.
-Robert Browning~

Such a beautiful poem. It made me cry to think of you being without your walking partner. Your poetry is such a wonderful gift you give to all of us, and I thank you. SharonM

ConSue what a lovely tribute. The wording is perfect. I hope to be able to walk a few more years with my beloved. In September we have our Golden Wedding, Fifty years together and never regretted a day. Love and Hugs from Martha and bernard.

I have seen these marriages and always hoped mine would be like that. The universe had different plans for us, but it seems in this day and age no on goes the length. I feel in my heart that is so wrong. Lovely poem.

Oh ConSue....

This is lovely, but so very sad....

The images it gave to me (not so much the one you provided the poem with) but the ones I saw, were lovely... and the picture you chose took my breath away just for a moment.

ConSue, you will be walking together again one day...

Much love to you my friend,
*hugs* Phil xxx

Exceptionally beautiful and touching write.
And the pictre you selected is so poignant and beautiful.
Morning Dove is so right, everybody is not intended to have so peaceful and beautifully seren a walks together.
He has a plan for each of us.
But this was abolutely beautiful.- and - sad
Warm love
Elizabeth
