I do not recognise the smell,
This face, or those glazed up, misty eyes.
But I’m fascinated by the gentle swell
By that familiar rise and fall

I peer closer at the features
Of a face, a face that I have loved
Have stroked and kissed every single inch
And told my truths, everything I should
How can that just disappear?

Your emotions seem arranged so queer,
You do not, cannot even see
You’re wasting something good for fear
Of what you considered to be
Precious and so sacred: me.

I have never sobbed so hard,
So long that I’m dehydrated
Am sick to the stomach and cannot sleep knowing
You do not miss us, and do not care
Wouldn’t notice if I dropped dead at your beautiful feet
