Leaving trails of light as they pass me by,
Swirling colors everywhere,
Gently floating on the air.

Light and eerie pastels glow,
Over the gentle stream they flow,
They dance to the rhythm of the night,
And make wondrous patterns with their flight.

And in my mind,
These pictures stay,
As the glowing butterflies twirl away,
Saying goodbye with a colored wave.

As I stand here in the night,
Thinking of their glowing flight,
They danced away from the coming dawn,
For when it comes, they will hide,
All over the world far and wide.

With normal wings they will parade,
Until the dusk of each day fade,
And I will know what their mask hides,
For I can tell by the way they glide.
