[title] => The Day My Laddie Went Away
[time] => 2005-06-25 20:40:17
[hometext] => I wrote this poem for school and I've always really liked it. I know the title makes it sound kinda lame, but plz read a review!
[bodytext] => The flowers’ petals were wet with dew And the sun had not awakened from its slumber The day my laddie went away. Across the sea to a fair land, Gone forever from the green hills of Ireland. Away from the meadows and trickling streams, Over yonder hills and into the sunrise. We would walk along the beach hand in hand, And watch the flowers bloom, But on that stormy night, As the lightening flashed and thunder bellowed, The ocean roiled in awesome rage And the flowers hid their faces in fright. It was the night the good Lord saw fit To take back what he had given, My laddie, fair and young; Whose laughter brought the sunrise And whose singing brought the gentle rains. The sun still rises each morning And fills this dark world with light. My fair lad is now in eternal sleep, But when the thunder rolls I can hear him singing, Singing in the distant hills. The flowers’ petals were wet with dew And the sun had not awakened from its slumber The day my laddie went away.
